As this project comes to a close, I realize I need to give this project a complete overhaul. Due to the fact that while the point of the story is obvious to some of my audience, it is not recognized by everyone. As such I am going to edit my project per the suggestions offered by my peers.
1) First and foremost, I need to change the story idea around. Instead of a first person account of the fall earth through the eyes of a nameless reporter, I have changed it to the internal thoughts of Commander Shepard, a soldier and main character of the video game series. As he looks upon the destruction, he reflects on what has been lost and how despite these losses, humanity continues to live in the only way they can. He also realizes that even though humanity is mortal and will die out eventually, to continue to fight and preserve it for as long as possible.
2) I've also taken care to add a few ideas taken from a few of the articles we have read so far in class. The most prominent being memento mori from Updike as well as Malcom's perception of the importance of snap shots. I also took some help from Ramage's take on preserving identity through images.
3) I added a new picture to the prezi. I did this to give the story a character to look at, since it was made clear that a first person narrative presented previously was not acceptable. That and give the story a bit more hope in the ending than in the original one.
3) Since I have changed the story a bit, I have had to rewrite the text. Also due to peer recommendation, I am keeping text at least one sentence long so the pictures can tell the story more, or at least work coherently with the text instead of being overpowered. I also though I would try to highlight the last word in each sentence with a particular color for emphasis. The color will reflect the word and the feeling behind it. Certain text have also been increased in size to represent its significance.
4) The pictures have been rearranged in order to fit the new circular theme. Meant to represent the right and fall of life. I have kept the images of the camera and the main character in the center to show that this spirit and desire to be remembered is outside the natural order of life and a purely human concept. This process is also shown through the lines I have placed on the presentation to show that these events will repeat themselves but the determination of life to continue to exist cannot be put down so easily.
While I know this project is anything but perfect, I hope that it better suits its audience and is easier to understand than before. And a lot less text driven.
